New Aveo5 subcompact makes North American debut

LOS ANGELES – During a brisk parade of vehicles ranging from a gasoline-powered subcompact to a hydrogen fuel cell crossover, extended-range electric vehicle and three hybrids, Chevrolet today rolled out a major initiative at the Los Angeles Auto Show – Chevrolet Fuel Solutions – to aggressively promote the fuel-saving technologies available in the brand’s current and future lineups.

The event included the North American debut of the newly redesigned Aveo5 subcompact, the five-door companion to the popular Aveo sedan.

The redesigned, next-generation 2009 Chevrolet Aveo5 fuel-efficient five-door subcompact, which arrives at North American dealerships early next year, features new exterior styling, a refined and spacious new interior, and an advanced 1.6L Ecotec I4 engine with variable valve timing (VVT) that delivers more power with an estimated highway fuel economy of 34 mpg (with the standard manual transmission).

Already known for its generous content for the segment, the 2009 Aveo5 features more upgrades and refinements including standard OnStar with Turn-by-Turn Navigation and available XM radio – two customer-pleasing features that make the vehicle a more formidable contender in the segment and even more attractive to North American motorists who are youthful in spirit.

Chevrolet will continue to position Aveo as a “small car with a big attitude,” keeping its signature tall-car roominess that accommodates five, six-foot tall occupants in a comfortable, ergonomic upright seating position.
